ESREN REGION

The Eastern Strait Regional Enterprise Network includes the Town of Antigonish, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish, the Municipality of the District of Guysborough, the Municipality of the District of Saint Mary’s and the Town of Port Hawkesbury. The region is located in eastern Nova Scotia north of Halifax and adjacent to the Cape Breton Region. It covers over 5,500 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 30,100. The economy of the area is based in large part on fishing and agriculture but it also features important emerging industries such as renewable energy. The region has impressive educational assets including St. Francis Xavier University and the Strait Area Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College. The Eastern Strait Region is also home to strategic economic assets such as oil and gas infrastructure, transportation infrastructure and a number of strategically important manufacturing firms. The natural beauty of the area and key tourism assets make it a popular destination for visitors to Atlantic Canada and is a main reason why people choose to live and work in the region. This website summarizes the case for businesses and entrepreneurs to invest in the Eastern Strait region and outlines the advantages for people considering a move to the region. When you are ready to take a deeper look, contact John Beaton, Chief Executive Officer of ESREN. He will guide you on your journey and connect you to the resources you need in the region to make a great business or personal decision.
